AS9102 Form 1 (Design Documentation Accountability) identifies and records all engineering documents used to produce and inspect the first article. It creates a traceable link between the physical part and the specific revision of every controlling document.
Form 1 typically lists the engineering drawing (number and revision), the associated model or dataset, applicable specifications and standards, material specifications, process specifications, and any customer-specific requirements.
Its purpose is to ensure that, at the time of the FAI, the supplier is working to the correct and current revision of every document. If a document is revised after the FAI is approved, a new FAI is generally required.
Auditors verify Form 1 to confirm that no obsolete documents were used and that all referenced documents were available and reviewed before production began.
Concrete example
Form 1 for a hydraulic fitting would list: Drawing Rev. C, Material Spec AMS 4928 Rev. M, Anodizing Spec MIL-A-8625 Type III, and the customer purchase order reference.
