AS9102 Form 2 — Product Accountability

AS9102 Form 2 (Product Accountability) identifies the first article itself — tracing the physical part through its materials, sub-components, raw material certifications, and manufacturing process records.

Form 2 records the part number, serial number (or lot/batch), the material used (with certification references), any sub-components or raw stock, the manufacturing processes applied (machining, heat treatment, surface treatment, etc.) and their certifications, and the non-destructive testing (NDT) performed.

Its primary function is to establish material and process traceability: proving that the correct material was used, processed correctly, and that the part's full manufacturing history is documented.

For assemblies, Form 2 typically covers the top-level assembly and may reference sub-level FAI packages for individual components.

Concrete example

Form 2 for a forged aluminum bracket records: raw material heat number, AMS 2770 heat treat certification, MIL-A-8625 anodize bath records, and the CMM serial number used for inspection.
